Al-Futtaim Engineering’s Qatar operations, a part of Hamad and Mohamed Al Futtaim, has opened an exclusive showroom of Roca sanitary ware on Old Airport road.
“Our partnership with Roca is an extension of the group’s DNA to partner with the world’s best brands,” said Dawood Ozair, senior managing director (electronics, engineering and technologies) at Al-Futtaim.
“The new showroom will strengthen our position among retail clients and reinforce our commitment to this market which is among the fastest growing in the world,” he said.
Miquel-Angel Munar, senior managing director of Roca Spain, described the opening of the exclusive showroom in Doha “as the fruit of a joint commitment shown by our company and our Qatari partner, Al-Futtaim Engineering, to create the ideal conditions required to position the brand as market leader by 2020.”
The opening of the first Roca showroom in Qatar follows increasing demand for its range of sanitary ware as spending on infrastructure and other real estate projects continues to drive growth in construction in the country, observed Ozair.
According to industry reports, the government plans to spend more than QR237bn on infrastructure projects until 2016 with majority of the funds earmarked for residential and commercial real estate projects.
Designed by the Francesc Rifé Studio, a well know interior designer from Spain, the showroom will showcase a whole range of Roca bathroom products.
One of the many highlights is the Element range, the fruit of collaboration with the architect David Chipperfield, described as “a powerful, compact, geometric and rational design which is extremely adaptable to the modern style of contemporary interior design.”
Another high-point is the In-Flow bathtub - where the bath combines design perfection, technology, innovation and sustainability with an ergonomic interior and an integrated tap system - is especially designed to offer maximum comfort and well-being.
A further attraction is the Armani/Roca collection, a concept born out of the collaboration between two renowned brands that lead the way in their respective sectors. The result is “a unique bathroom space characterised by its elegance, quality, design, style and an organic integration of each object into the space available.”
Headquartered in Dubai, Al-Futtaim Engineering has worked on major projects in Qatar including Qatar National Convention Centre, IKEA – Doha Festival City and Burj Marina Office Tower for Burj Marina Real Estate. The MEP division is currently working on the Heritage Quarter, Jumaa Mosque for Mshereib properties and Grand Cinemas.
Roca, which has 76 production plants, is present in more than 135 countries. The wholly Spanish-owned group is market leader in Europe, Latin America, India and Russia. It is also a major market player in China and the rest of Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
